There is one eternally living God who is
Creator of all else that exists, omniscient, omnipotent,
omnipresent.
To many Christians, this statement is simply an obvious fact.
However, this is a statement that has many implications. Do we
really
believe that God is able to bring about his will concerning
unity? Do you know that one of the most persistent objections to
working for unity is the fact that denominations have been around
too long, and we are not able to change people?
We?
Who
do we think we are? Who cares what
We
can or
cannot do? The question is: what can
God
do? This
is
His
show, not ours! How arrogant we are! How
unbelieving! No wonder Jesus uttered the words concerning those
who no longer pray for his will to be done, and who grow
discouraged and negative: ".... Nevertheless when the Son of
man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)
Please read on, and perhaps begin to really know our Father for
the first time. Our God is an awesome God!
Creator:
-
Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning, God created
the heaven and earth."
-
Psalm 104:30
"You send forth your spirit,
they are created: and you renew the face of the
earth."
-
Psalm 148:1-5
"Praise the LORD. Praise the
LORD from the heavens. Praise him in the heights. [2]
Praise him, all his angels. Praise him, all his hosts.
[3] Praise him, sun and moon. Praise him, all stars of
light. [4] Praise him, heavens of heavens, and waters
that are above the heavens. [5] Let them praise the name
of the LORD, for he commanded, and they were
created."
-
Ecclesiastes 12:1
"Remember your Creator in
the days of your youth...."
-
Isaiah 40:26
"Lift up your eyes on high, and
behold who has created these things..."
-
Isaiah 42:5
"Thus says God the LORD, he that
created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that
spread forth the earth, and that which comes out of it;
he that gives breath to the people upon it, and spirit to
those that walk therein:"
-
Mark 13:19
"...the beginning of the creation
which God created...."
-
Ephesians 3:9
"...God, who created all things
by Jesus Christ."
-
Colossians 1:16
"For by him were all things
created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth,
visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or
dominions, or principalities, or powers. All things were
created by him, and for him."
-
Revelation 4:11
"You are worthy, O Lord, to
receive glory and honor and power, for you have created
all things, and for your pleasure they are and were
created."
(God reveals himself as the Creator of all things,
and he has ultimate stewardship over all that belongs to
him. He has infinite ability to do exactly what he wills
to do with all that is
his
.)
Omniscient, all knowing:
-
1 Chronicles 28:9
"...for the LORD searches
all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the
thoughts...."
-
1 Kings 8:39
"...for you, you only, know the
hearts of all the children of men."
-
Psalm 44:21
"Shall not God search this out?
For he knows the secrets of the heart."
-
Psalm 139 (excerpts)
"[1] O LORD, you have
searched me and known me. [2] You know my sitting down
and my rising up, you understand my thought afar off. [3]
You encompass my path and my lying down, and are
acquainted with all my ways. [4] For there is not a word
on my tongue, but you, LORD, know it completely....[7]
Where shall I go from your spirit? Or where shall I flee
from your presence? [8] If I ascend up into heaven, you
are there; if I make my bed in hell, you are there."
-
Psalm 147:5
"Great is our Lord, and of great
power. His understanding is infinite."
-
Proverbs 15:3
"The eyes of the LORD are in
every place, beholding the evil and the good."
-
John 21:17
"...'Lord, you know all
things'...."
-
Hebrews 4:13
"Neither is there any creature
that is not manifest in his sight, but all things are
naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have
to do."
-
1 John 3:20
"For if our heart condemns us,
God is greater than our heart, and knows all
things."
(God knows all things. Jesus knew the problems that
would need to be solved in order for us to be unified.
But he also knows the solutions. Could it be our own
arrogance and intellectual pride that makes us believe
that unity is impossible if
we ourselves
cannot see a way to bring it about?
In other
words, "If I can't figure out for
myself
how Christian reunion can ever happen, then I refuse to
accept that it can happen at all.")
Omnipresent, always present everywhere:
-
Psalm 139 (excerpts)
"[1] O LORD, you have
searched me and known me. [2] You know my sitting down
and my rising up, you understand my thought afar off. [3]
You encompass my path and my lying down, and are
acquainted with all my ways. [4] For there is not a word
on my tongue, but you, LORD, know it completely....[7]
Where shall I go from you spirit? Or where shall I flee
from you presence? [8] If I ascend up into heaven, you
are there; if I make my bed in hell, you are there."
-
Jeremiah 23:23-24
"'Am I a God at hand,' says
the LORD, 'and not a god afar off?' [24] 'Can any hide
himself in secret places that I shall not see him?' says
the LORD. 'Don't I fill heaven and earth?' says the
LORD."
-
Hebrews 4:13
"Neither is there any creature
that is not manifest in his sight...."
(God is not "a god afar off," but rather he
is up close and very personal. God's relationship with
his children is very intimate. He is willing that we be
one, for he has revealed that to be his will to everyone
who has ever heard his word. Our oneness is intended to
be a visible witness to the world that the Body of Christ
exists as a miracle. This witness, or evidence, is to let
the world know that Jesus is the Messiah, genuine, not an
imposter, still among us, alive and well. Since it is
will that we be one, he will take each of us by the hand
and lead us. He will enter our hearts and minds and teach
us and guide us, until his will is done.)
Omnipotent, all powerful:
-
Matthew 19:27
"But Jesus beheld them, and
said unto them, 'With men this is impossible, but with
God all things are possible.'"
-
Mark 10:27
"And Jesus looking upon them said,
'With men it is impossible, but not with God, for with
God all things are possible.'"
-
Mark 14:36
"And he [Jesus] said, 'Abba,
Father, all things are possible for you....'"
-
Luke 1:37
"For with God, nothing shall be
impossible."
(To say that unity is impossible because of our human
nature is blasphemy, for it is saying that God has begun
to build a house without counting the cost, and does not
have what it takes to finish it to be the way he
envisioned it. Somewhat like the uncommitted person of
Luke 14:28, who is to be mocked for starting to build a
tower he cannot finish.)

God manifests himself in the Father, the
Son, and the Holy Spirit.
There is one
Christian church.
The church is composed of all Christians.
A Christian is one in whom the one true
God dwells.
The Holy Bible is God inspired.
The Holy Bible contains all the truth
necessary for salvation.
Different translations of the
Bible, and various interpretations of scripture and doctrine, may
contain errors, but in all major translations the errors are not
a barrier to salvation.
Salvation is by grace, a gift from God.
Christian works are the acts
of Jesus dwelling in us.
Jesus lives in the members of the church,
and the church is his body in this age.
Everyone sins and breaks the spiritual
law, even Christians.
To love God and to love our neighbor is
the fulfillment of all spiritual law.
God's forgiveness is ongoing and
limitless, and available to all who truly accept Jesus Christ as
their personal savior.
God will never leave us, nor
forsake us.
